The North Mason School District has been awarded a grant through OSPI to explore balanced or modified school schedules. We have assembled a diverse task force to explore balanced scheduling and how it could positively or negatively impact our school/community in the 2024-2025 or later school year. This is just an option we are looking at; no decisions have been made.
The balanced calendar reduces the long summer break and simply apportions those days throughout the school year, producing more frequent breaks and thus limiting long periods of in-session days, as well as longer vacations. Below are sample calendars created by the state. They feature 180 days of instruction, with the modified calendar balancing the frequency of in-session days with days on break.
If you have questions are want to join this task force, please reach out to Laura Pugh. Below is Meeting notes and the recorded meetings.
